I Joined UWRC in September 2009 as a complete novice, never having rowed in my life. Since then I have managed to progress to the stage where I have competed in several competitions rowing either indoors or in an 8 or 4 man boat, with our best result putting us 12 out of 39 in the BUCS university championships at Peterborough. We hope in the future to continue pushing forward, getting faster and stronger until we have a made a name for UWRC!  Qualifying for Henley Regatta would be an amazing achievement and is a well achievable goal for the summer especially with the progress we have made since we began. Rowing is hard work but hugely rewarding and addictive once you get into it, I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a challenge or just wants to keep fit.
The world record attempt is an absolutely nuts idea! But with the right attitude and determination it can be achieved. I have no doubt it’s going to be a struggle and an effort of sheer stamina and will power, but the funds that we can raise for a good cause means that it’s well worth it!
