3 hours remain
Here we are, at a point that has barely seemed imaginable at times: the bitter end.
Only 3 stints remain until we end our attempt, having covered more than 3,600km – adding over 575km to the old mark. It falls now upon Mike Benyon, Tim Rogers and Tom Trout to bring the team home at the end of their extraordinary effort.
The photo is of team members of both teams sleeping, having stayed the night in the cold in solidarity.
World Record #3 is ours!
Yesterday, the Men’s Team cruised through the distance of the old world record leading into this morning and breaking the time duration of the old record as well.
Typical of the Men’s Team, they simply continued erging, efficient, organised – utterly professional and committed to the target of setting a new world record to be proud of.
Throughout this, they have risen above people’s wildest expectations – ending up beating the previous world record of 3,027km in 240 hours by nearly 300km! They continue rowing now, moving away with every single stroke – relentlessly setting new heights and new standards for any challenger out there to test themselves against.
I’d love to thank the Americans of Power Ten Rowing Inc again here – we didn’t appreciate how tough it would be to break their record, and have the utmost respect for their achievement in setting it, their support has been most welcome, and they are true sportsmen in offering it.
We continue now to set a new world record to discourage allcomers from attempting – and with each stroke we will ratchet another notch away.
We’re now back to updating the website normally, so please stay tuned for more updates, and thank you to each and every one of you for your support so far.
